Racing, Pacing & Greyhounds

Northam is a punters wonderland! It is the only town in Western Australia that has all three racing components (thoroughbreds, trots and greyhounds). There is only one other town in Australia (Cranbourne) that also has these three types of racing. If it is racing that you are looking for, Northam is certainly where all of the action is at.

Northam Race Club

The Northam Race Club was established in 1863 and its home, the Northam Racecourse, is one of WA's premier winter racecourses.The racecourse itself is situated on Yilgarn Avenue on the eastern border of the town - . The Northam Racecourse hosts on average 25 race meetings per year through the months May to October.

The 2010 season commences on Sunday May 2 with the Northam Sprint. Signature events for the annual racing calendar include the Foundation Day Cup on June 7th, Ladies Day on September 19 and the XXXX Gold Northam Cup on October 24.

Northam Harness Racing Club

The Northam Harness Racing Club is situated at Burwood Park on Clarke Street. If it is trots you are after then Burwood Park has something to offer all year round with the majority of the season occurring in the Winter months.

Northam Greyhounds

The Northam Greyhounds are also held at Burwood Park on Clarke Street. There are even meets which combine harness racing and greyhound racing.
